A case being heard in Portsmouth District Court might test the state's new bullying law.

According to coverage in the Portsmouth Herald, Wesley Jones, 18, of 146 Blue Heron Drive,is charged with harassing a fellow high school student by instant message and email.

The 16-year-old alleged victim testified that on Feb. 3 she logged into her Lister Academy email account and found multiple messages from Jones, her former boyfriend. She said the messages were “derogatory” and Jones threatened to confront her in person.

“I was scared, I was nervous and I was upset because there was a threat that he would come to my school,” she told the court.

His lawyer described the allegations as “a case of teenage angst that got a little out of control.”
