New Hampshire's Virtual Town Hall
One things our Founders charged the citizens with is to know their government and keep track of what they are doing supposedly on your behalf. Didn't Benjamin Franklin when asked by a woman in the crowd answer her as to our form of Government as to , "A Repubic Madam if you can keep it." How can a citizen keep a free government unless they are an informed citizen
NH's RSA 91-A has been diluted by the fact that the selectmen can claim they are discussing business with the town attorney and thus hide issues which will cost money.
Most recently I found through an article in the Concord Monitor, Nov. 26 that our town has gone to legal council several times over the police department trying to unionize.
But when I looked in the minutes for where they had been informed and voted to take legal action there were no minutes. This clearly violates RSA 91-A where it states the Public's business shall be done at posted meetings. In other words how can the decide to talk with council unless they have a meeting and make a decision. After that they have ability to go into Non Public over litigation something that has so far cost the Deerfield Taxpayers $10,000.
