New Hampshire's Virtual Town Hall

The state and local cities and towns have lost their power to require fire suppression systems in residential homes.

The House and Senate on Wednesday (June 22, 2011) overrode Gov. John Lynch's veto of SB 91.

The measure prevents municipalities from mandating the installation of fire sprinklers in any new or existing detached one- and two-family homes.

Lynch had vetoed the bill at the urging of the state fire marshal and local fire officials.
