Should property owners be taxed if they have a scenic view over which they have no control?

The scenic view tax issue was put on inactive status. The Live Free or Die Alliance is monitoring any new developments in regard to this issue; any new information will be posted here. Throughout the last couple of years, state tax assessors have considered including a house’s view as they calculate its taxable value. The state argues that a homeowners’ view is a part of what people pay for, even though the state has no clear definition of what as view is, while critics argue that homeowners own a house and not the view or potential view.
