New Hampshire's Virtual Town Hall

In a statewide effort on Friday, police went looking for drivers distracted by their texting.

According to a WMUR-TV report, Operation Safe Commute netted 613 vehicles, with 281 drivers receiving a summons and 379 receiving warnings.

"I think people have more and more to do, less and less time to do it, and they're trying to cram it in while they're driving," said State Police Lt. Chris Aucoin said in the report. "The problem is, driving that vehicle is a very serious responsibility."

Statistics from the New Hampshire Safety Administration show that 29 percent of fatal accidents this year were caused by distracted drivers.

When you are talking on a phone, you are impaired at the same level as someone who is impaired at .08 (legally drunk). Why should you talk on a phone?  Texting?  Outrageous.

The bottom-line is that laws aren't going to change this.  Technology will.
