Accountability and politicians, for the citizens of NH

On behalf of the LFDA, I’ve been calling candidates all across the state. Asking them to fill out our survey, check out the website, submit a blog, etc. Some of the time I get truly enthusiastic candidates who say, “Thanks for calling,” “Your website looks great,” and “Good job,” Responses like these are tremendous, New Hampshire politicians who give these responses are pleasant to deal with because they are eager to explain themselves to the people. They seem to remember that they are there to…See More

Being raised in a political environment that endorses hyper-partisanship I’ve learned one thing for sure; the easiest way to offend someone is to talk politics. I am sure my peers can attest to a similar sentiment. Not participating in politics because of the certain controversy is destroying young Americans involvement as engaged citizens; this is unacceptable. As Americans concerned for the future we should be fostering a civil and enthusiastic atmosphere for young people to learn, discuss…See More

Portsmouth captain says bridge debris almost hit boat

"A tour-boat captain says a piece of the Memorial Bridge between Portsmouth, N.H., and Kittery, Maine, fell into the water, almost hitting his vessel. Bob Hassold says the rusted piece of metal that fell Monday was 4-feet in diameter.Hassold said he had four passengers on the boat at the time. New Hampshire transportation officials spent Wednesday inspecting the bridge over the Piscataqua River near where it empties in the Atlantic Ocean. The 80-year-old span is on New Hampshire's list of…See More

Undemocratic or a voice for the little guy?

We are all familiar with the notion of democracy, the people choose. So then why would electors of the Electoral College have the final say? If we live in a nation with democracy at its heart, then how is it possible for the popular voice of the people to be superseded by a group of 538 electors? This is the argument for those opposing our current Electoral College system. However, The United States of America is huge. Everyone wants to make sure that their voice is heard. For states with…See More

Fuel Inefficiency of State Vehicles

You want to know what irks me out? The fuel inefficiency of state vehicles. What’s with police officers idling in a suburban? First of all, do they really need a huge SUV? And, even the regular patrol cars, Police Interceptors, aka spruced up Crown Victorias have a big gas eating V8 in them. They do not need that, it is unsafe to pursue vehicles traveling at extreme rates of speed,…
