Auto insurance a must

Yes, auto insurance should be mandatory.  I've seen too many accidents where the causer has no insurance and leaves the victim with no way to pay for damages and hospital bills other than what the latter may have in his or her own coverage.  It's the only way to be fair to all drivers.Jim NoyesSee More

Funding education

Yes we need a new way to fund K-12 education.  I suggest an income tax on incomes over $100K a year.  An income tax charges people who are able to pay, unlike a property tax where an owner may have a low income job or be out of work.Jim NoyesSee More

How about percentages

I think a popular vote it is the most democratic way to elect a president, and that the electoral collage is out dated.  But since the electoral collage still exists, I think NH should divvy out its electoral votes based on the percentage each candidate gets.  So if candidate A gets 75% of the NH vote and candidate B gets 25%, then 3 electoral votes go to A and 1 electoral vote goes to B.Of course percentages won't usually be exact, so they will have to be rounded off.Jim NoyesSee More

Electoral College

When all is said and done, it's the Electoral College vote -- not the popular vote -- that decides the presidency. Some states are considering legislation that essentially bypasses the Electoral College. Should New Hampshire join in?See More

Property taxes 200 years out of date

I wanted to voice my opinion that property taxes may have been a fair way to tax citizens 200 years ago, but now it's time to to adopt a modern tax that taxes people by their ability to pay.  The best way that I can see to do this is to adopt an income tax.The people of NH haven't yet understood the good sense in this, nor have the low income earners realized that an income tax for high income earners would eventually reduce their property taxes.  By adopting an income tax, the tax burden…See More

Property Taxes

New Hampshire is one of the few states in which both the state and local governments levy property taxes. The burden of real estate taxes on New Hampshire citizens, when compared to other states, is a matter of considerable debate.See More
